After years of testing Microsoft will be phasing out it’s flagship crawling service. Replacing it with a fresh new version. Starting this month, the new Bingbot will be responsible for all website crawling from Bing.
The new user-agent will add the ability to identify the specific version of Microsoft Edge that’s crawling your site to provide more complete data than the previous version.
Why We Care
This change can impact your website if you use any Bingbot user agent detection methods. This likely isn’t a concern for most sites, but if you have done any advanced bot detection in the past you should test your site to see if it will support Microsoft’s new user agent. If not, scripts on your site will need updating.
