Google Renames Bard to Gemini

Google has announced the renaming of its generative AI-powered conversational tool, Bard, to Gemini. The objective of this change is to provide clear branding and a more streamlined user experience.

Key Updates You Need to Know

With the renaming of Bard to Gemini, users will now have to access the tool at gemini.google.com. Gemini will also soon have its own standalone app on Android. Once downloaded, users can opt to make Gemini their primary assistant or continue using their current one. Additionally, Gemini will be integrated into the Google app on iOS.

Gemini Advanced

Google has announced a paid version of Gemini called Gemini Advanced. This version is part of the Google One subscription’s AI Premium plan, priced at $19.99 per month, which also offers additional storage and features.

Gemini Advanced is designed to better understand detailed instructions, allowing users to provide longer prompts with context. It will also be able to generate ideas and create content.

  • Gemini Advanced is powered by Gemini Ultra 1.0, Google’s largest and most capable model designed for handling highly complex tasks.
  • It is available in over 150 countries, starting with the English language, with more languages will be added over time.
  • More exclusive features for multimodal, coding, and data analysis will be coming soon.
  • Google is offering a free two-month trial for new subscribers.
  • Under the Google One premium plan, Gemini will soon be integrated into products like Gmail, Docs, Sheets, Slides, and Meet, replacing Duet AI.

Why We Care

We are entering a new phase of Organic Search with Google’s Gemini. Launched in December, Gemini’s models are already being used in Google Ads and Search Generative Experience (SGE) and will expand to Search soon.

As Gemini integrates into Google products and expands globally, marketers can anticipate broader reach and enhanced AI experiences across various platforms. Gemini represents a major move towards better, more flexible, and responsible AI. This can lead to improved customer experiences and streamlined operations for businesses.
