GA4 Migration

With the deadline for migration to Google Analytics 4 fast approaching (July 1, 2023), it’s more important than ever to make the switch before Universal Analytics is no longer functional. Protect your marketing data with our GA4 migration services.

Why Do You Need to Switch to GA4?

Google is sunsetting Universal Analytics, which means that after July 1, it will no longer process hits or create reports for you. Google has been adding exciting new features to GA4 that make it easier than ever to gain insight into customer activity and the success of your marketing strategy. GA4 is the largest update to Google Analytics than any in the past 10-15 years, which means it requires planning and precision to migrate your data to the new platform (that’s where we come in!).

GA4 allows you to:

  • track data across web and mobile apps
  • access machine learning and predictive modeling to gain even greater insight into your business
  • contains advanced explorations to add even more value to your reports.

Frequently Asked Questions

GA4 represents a significant change and evolution of Google Analytics. There are some key differences between the two:

  • Data model: GA4 uses an event-based model while UA uses a session-based data model.
  • Data collection: GA4 provides a more granular control over data collection while UA has less flexibility
  • Machine learning: GA4 has more built-in machine learning capabilities allowing for more automated insights and predictive analytics while UA’s machine learning is more limited in scope.
  • Different properties: GA4 can be used for a website, app, or both a website and app together. UA properties only supported websites.

Right now. UA will be sunset on July 1st, 2023, and will stop collecting data. If you do not have GA4 currently set up, you need to prioritize this as it only includes data after the moment it’s created.

Google will automatically create a GA4 account for you. Many features of UA do not migrate to GA4, so there is a good chance you will lose tracking and information if you rely only on Google to do this.

You will still have access to your previously processed data in UA. After 6 months, all historical data from UA will be removed. We recommend you plan to export your UA data in Fall of 2023.

Yes. All Google Analytics accounts need to migrate to GA4 regardless of whether it is a paid or free account.

This will vary depending on many factors such as your current website set-up, the different properties currently set up in UA, the complexity of your business, and how far along you are in the process. Contact us today for a consultation about migrating your business to GA4.
