GA4 Audits

Universal Analytics has stopped collecting data and all users have been automatically migrated to the new platform, Google Analytics 4 (GA4). Many users have lost data through this transformation or had artificially inflated metrics. Reclaim control of your marketing data with our GA4 migration & audit services.

Why Do You Need to Audit Your New GA4 Profile?

Google has ended data collection in Universal Analytics. GA4 is the largest update to Google Analytics in the past 10-15 years, which means it requires planning and precision to migrate your data correctly to the new platform (that’s where we come in!). New features in GA4 make it easier than ever to gain insight into customer activity and the success of your marketing strategy, but only if your profile is configured correctly.

You may need our customized solutions to GA4 if:

  • your Google Ads conversion data has been impacted by the change to GA4
  • your website traffic differs significantly from what was counted in Universal Analytics
  • you are counting more conversions than actual leads received
  • the reports and dashboards you need are broken

Transitioning to GA4

Making the transition to GA4 isn’t as simple as copying and pasting your data. The differences between the old and new platforms mean that you need a comprehensive approach to migration.

We will handle your GA4 installation smoothly and efficiently, and we’ll develop a comprehensive measurement framework to suit your tracking needs. We’ll migrate your website tracking from Universal Analytics to your new profile, and make use of the new functionality in GA4. Best of all, we’re happy to educate you and your team about how it all works so that you can get the most out of your website’s analytics. If you have custom reports in Universal Analytics or are leveraging Looker Studio, we can also update your reporting to GA4.

Frequently Asked Questions

GA4 represents a significant change and evolution of Google Analytics. There are some key differences between the two:

  • Data model: GA4 uses an event-based model while UA uses a session-based data model.
  • Data collection: GA4 provides a more granular control over data collection while UA has less flexibility
  • Machine learning: GA4 has more built-in machine learning capabilities allowing for more automated insights and predictive analytics while UA’s machine learning is more limited in scope.
  • Different properties: GA4 can be used for a website, app, or both a website and app together. UA properties only supported websites.

UA was discontinued on July 1st, 2023, and stopped collecting data over the following weeks. If you did not manually setup a GA4 profile, your UA profiles will have automatically been migrated to the new GA4 version. Many of these auto-migrated profiles are not working correctly. An audit will help to identify gaps in your website measurement that have occurred as result of this automated migration.

Google automatically created a GA4 account for you. Many features of UA do not migrate to GA4, so there is a good chance you have lost tracking and information if you may rely.

You will still have access to your previously processed data in UA. After 6 months, all historical data from UA will be removed. We recommend you plan to export your UA data in Fall of 2023.

Yes. All Google Analytics accounts need to migrate to GA4 regardless of whether it is a paid or free account.

This will vary depending on many factors such as your current website set-up, the different properties currently set up in UA, the complexity of your business, and how far along you are in the process. Contact us today for a consultation about migrating your business to GA4.
